Loneliness linked to deteriorating health in seniors

Recent studies show that loneliness has detrimental effects on the health of seniors — there’s mounting evidence linking loneliness to physical illness and to functional and cognitive decline. While Independent & Assisted Living Communities may not be appropriate for all seniors, they can be beneficial to some because of the activities and socialization they offer, countering isolation and loneliness experienced by many older adults.

Company provides dementia care options to former NFL players

Interesting story in the New York Times about a company based in Tampa that has a deal with the N.F.L. Alumni Association to provide special treatment to former players with dementia. The chance of developing Alzheimer’s or dementia is greater for former players than it is for the general population.
